General Process Questions

What exactly is a "Packout"?

A packout is the professional process of inventorying, packing, and moving your belongings from a damaged property to a secure, climate-controlled facility. This allows your home to be repaired more quickly while your items are cleaned and stored in a safe environment.

How long does the restoration process take?

Every loss is unique. Small water losses may take a few weeks, while large-scale fire restorations can take months. We work in tandem with your reconstruction contractor to ensure your "Packback" is scheduled the moment your home is ready.

Can I access my items while they are in storage?

Absolutely. Because we use a Digital Inventory System, we can locate specific items (like seasonal clothing or important documents) within our vaults. Simply give our KC or Denver office 24–48 hours' notice, and we will have your items ready for pickup or delivery.

Insurance & Cost Questions

Does my insurance cover the cost of Rescue Packout?

In most cases, yes. Most standard homeowners' and commercial policies include "Content Coverage." We work directly with your adjuster to provide the documentation they need to approve the claim. We use Xactimate—the same billing software used by insurance companies—to ensure pricing transparency.

What if an item is "Total Loss" and cannot be saved?

If an item is deemed non-restorable (usually due to severe charring or prolonged water saturation), we document it thoroughly with photos and descriptions. We provide you and your adjuster with a Total Loss Manifest so you can be reimbursed for the replacement value of that item.

Do I have to use the company my insurance recommends?

No. As a policyholder, you have the "Right to Choose" your restoration vendor. Rescue Packout is an independent specialist; we work for you, though we maintain excellent professional relationships with all major insurance carriers in Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado.

Technical Restoration Questions

Can you actually get the "smoke smell" out of my sofa?

Yes. We don't use "perfumes" to cover smells. We use Molecular Deodorization (Hydroxyl or Ozone) to break down the carbon molecules that cause odors. If we say it’s clean, it’s chemically clean.

Are the chemicals you use safe for my family and pets?

Safety is our priority. We use hospital-grade, eco-friendly antimicrobials and botanical cleaning agents whenever possible. Our processes are designed to remove harmful carcinogens left behind by fire and soot, making your items safer than they were before we started.
